Today, the Internet is being used more and more in the academic world to facilitate learning, training and education. Online education is the fastest growing form of learning today, and its applications are spreading into even the most technical of fields. Even the basic college experience has been changed dramatically, favoring more elements of online education than ever before.

When I first went to college in 1997, email and other basic Internet functions were already gaining large-scale popularity, however, education was still limited to the traditional lecture, classroom discussion, and textbook formats. Within the four years it took me to graduate (okay, five years), I saw an enormous increase in the use of online elements in my own education. Virtually every class I took the last year I spent in attendance had a significant online portion to the class. Often times the online elements were optional, yet I always found them an extremely useful tool as a compliment to the lectures and textbooks.

Not only has online education changed the college experience significantly, it is also playing a large role in many other forms of training and education. Many certifications, licenses, and specialized training programs are using online elements to facilitate their education as well. For example, most nursing programs, graduate programs, medical schools, law schools, law enforcement academies, other government training programs, and even many vocational training programs have online portions to their curriculums.

There has also been a rise in ‘Online Universities’, accredited educational institutions that offer degrees and certifications solely by way of online education. People today can earn an associate’s degree, a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree, a doctorate, even a degree in law or a registered nurse certification. Some of these programs, such as nursing, require a certain amount of physical attendance at a specified location to conduct training, but many of them are conducted entirely online.

The rising popularity of online education is not without its criticism and potential drawbacks. Many people argue that removing the live ‘face to face’ interaction of traditional education will impact they way we are able to socialize effectively. These critics suggest that the communication skills learned in discussion and lecture formats are part of the educational experience, and should not be overlooked. There is also some criticism about the ability to regulate online education, and fears about cheating to obtain degrees without earning them.

In spite of the drawbacks and criticism, online education continues to grow at a rapid pace, and will most certainly remain a strong part of educational and training programs of the future.

I got involved in online learning about a year ago as a teacher. I’m actually more of a technical guy, but in my company everyone wears lots of different hats. In this case, we had a training video for some of our offices. You see, it was necessary for a lot of our people to learn Spanish online.

We work with so many Hispanic clients that knowing a little bit of conversational Spanish is simply indispensable in this area. My job was to make an online learning course that would teach them the basics.

It was just my kind of project. It combined a little bit of this and that into what was actually a fairly technologically sophisticated undertaking. I needed to up my knowledge of Spanish, my ability to integrate web cams and interactive software, and sophisticated PowerPoint presentations.

It took me several months, but it was worth it. I was pleased by how well the project turned out, and the big bonus I got for completing it didn’t hurt either.

It also got me interested in taking online learning courses myself. I have a friend recently got an MBA online and I had never really thought much about her program until I got involved in designing my own online education program. After that, I realized that you can learn practically anything over the Internet. I started to do some investigation myself.

I don’t really need any more certification. I have all the degrees and titles I need for my job. I simply wanted to take online courses in something that interested me. I got involved in an online philosophy group where, for a small fee, a local expert leads a group discussion over web cam once a week.

It has been very educational and I have even met some interesting people on it. All in all, online learning has been a good experience so far. I would not say it’s for everyone – some people really need to be face-to-face in order to get the most out of an educational experience. Nonetheless, it seems to work well for me and for most of the people in my company. If you’ve never tried it, you should give it a shot.

Usually the technology is pretty straightforward and easy to use, and it allows you to go at your own pace in your spare time. All in all, online learning is a pretty winning combination of convenience and content.

I had been wanting to go to law school for years, but hadn’t been able to due to health problems. I had serious arthritis, diabetes, and a variety of complications. I knew that law schools required hours and hours of sitting in lecture, late nights of studying, and other activities that were stressful to the body.

I had basically given up on the idea of getting a legal degree when one of my friends told me about online law schools.

I had never really heard of an online law school before, and was naturally curious. Was an online legal degree really legitimate, or was it just the way to take advantage of people like me who can’t get a law degree through the usual means.

I was so surprised with what I was able to find out. I found out that there are many successful lawyers out there who trained through an online law school. I positively saw it as an opportunity or a way for me to make my dream happen.

From the moment I got into it, I knew that getting an online law degree would be difficult. You see, and online law school is a mixed bag. On the one hand, you get to set your own hours and work around your own schedule. On the other hand, you have to be extremely self disciplined.

With the more typical course of legal study, you have professors on you to meet your deadlines all the time. With an online law school, however, no one is responsible for your work but you. It might be a little bit less intensive, but it requires an iron will nonetheless.

One of the things I was worried about with online law schools was getting a hold of all the legal information that I would need. I knew that law school reports were intensive, and required access to reams and reams of case file history. Most law schools have their own libraries with that sort of information, but I had no idea how I would access it at a law school online. I need not have worried.

There are plenty of legal resources for lawyers who operate over the Internet. There are legal document databases, sophisticated search engines for professionals, and other proprietary and public access source of information. It cost a little bit of money, but not anymore than say, a textbook or school supplies. All in all, it proved to be a very workable proposition. In a few years, I had graduated from the online law school and was on my way to becoming an attorney.

In today’s very competitive world, college has almost become crucial. There’s no escaping the need for a good education, but some individuals hate the idea of going back to school in order to acquire a decent degree.

Ponder all of the employers out there seeking new employees. They really do have a lot of people to choose from. Now, why would they choose a mere high school graduate over an individual with a great degree? Well, since there’s no escaping the university life to some extent, at least you can now enjoy online classes.

Anyone currently attending a university or community college should seriously consider online classes, which are now available at practically any school. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to get your degree solely off the web. You can mix it up a bit.

Online classes can be a wonderful asset to your college curriculum. Maybe you want to take a couple classes at your local university and then take one more on the web to create a specific schedule that suits you better.

You should keep in mind that the online course you take can be addressed completely from home or your dorm room. All you need is a computer with Internet access. Early in the morning is a great time to choose online classes.

The good thing about this is you can simply get off of your bed and hop right in to your computer without the need to get dressed. Online classes have made life much easier for anybody who would go for it. It’s not bad to take advantage of this new-age way of learning.

Online classes are often ideal for single parents that already have a career that calls for ample attention and time. This way they cannot only keep up with their careers, but they can additionally attain a two-year or four-year degree at the same time. This will naturally open more doors for future careers. You truly can never have too much education or experience. Employers find you much more desirable with both.

Take a moment now to think about a few online classes that would benefit you and can easily be added to your current schedule. A college degree is always worth your time and effort!

Whilst the old bricks and mortar institutions are still free and could be right for some folk, many do not have the time to sit in classes. Getting a degree online is the only option for lots of todays working adults.

In today’s society, we tend to have a fast-paced busy life that does not lend well to scheduling changes. The benefits of an internet degree are that you can make your own schedule. Once your classes are booked, most faculties give you the choice of logging on if you need.

As long as you meet the minimum needs for attendance and collaboration, you can do your schoolwork if you select. This means you will not miss family time, work, or any social duties you can already have.

Virtually any kind of degree can be had on the internet. Some courses may need campus lab time or internships, and others will permit you to finish your degree fully on the web. Many schools round the country have online degree programs so you can choose the one that is suitable for you.

Business, law, liberal humanities, and IT degrees are only a few of the choices available. Pick the one that interests you and find a college that offers the degree you need.

Make sure whatever you choose; you don’t overwhelm yourself with a class load that you cannot handle. Sometimes the faculty will have a limit to the number of classes you can take at a previous time. As much as you would like your degree, you want time to yourself, or to spend with your family. When scheduling classes, ensure you budget time for all your activities.Earn

Even though you don’t have to sit in a school room for a fixed period of time, you are still going to be spending time on class work and completing assignments. You must spend about the same amount of time working on your coursework, as you would have spent in a conventional study room. The biggest difference between the 2 is that with online learning you can make your own schedule, and never need to leave your home.

Getting your degree is important for any one desiring to earn more money, provide a better future for his or change careers. Now you can go farther than you ever dreamed with an internet education. Do your analysis, apply to colleges, and live the life you were meant to have. Get your degree.

As soon as you come out of the high school, you are confronted with several degree programs. Degrees are of several types and are pursued at different level. These degrees are absolutely necessary to for career advancement and finding a respectable job in the future.

Fresh from high school, there two types of degrees awaiting you. One type is the bachelor’s degree and second is an associate degree. A bachelor’s degree is again of two types – namely, bachelors of Arts and bachelors of Science. Bachelor’s of arts consists of program in liberal arts and fine arts. Whereas students who have chosen programs such as math, life science, physical science, engineering, and agriculture would receive a bachelor’s of science degree.

A bachelor’s degree consists of a coursework of four-year duration. It is a full time course and every student majors in a particular subject from towards the completion of the second year. Earning a bachelor’s degree in a private college in US is considered prestigious. The cost of earning a bachelor’s degree can also cut down with the financial aid from various sources – private and government. Most Federal grants are free and you need not repay them. Even private student loans come at a lower rate of interest.

For those students who cannot afford to earn a bachelor’s degree and who fail to get financial aid, they can pursue another type of degree called associate degree. An associate degree is often offered at government-run community colleges or at a vocational school. They take a minimum of one year and a maximum of two years to get completed. The coursework is similar to tat of bachelor’s degree, which requires general education, electives, and major work. An associate degree is often pursued by students to cut down of education cost. Having completed two years doing an associate degree, they move on to a private and stay there for another two year to complete their bachelor’s degree.

Having obtained a bachelor’s degree, the next step is to earn a master’s degree. This type of degree is more specialized than a bachelor’s degree. The coursework is such that it allows the students to concentrate on a specific subject and field. In order to receive a master’s degree, students may have to write a 100-150 page thesis or take a lengthy exam.

The last type of degree is the doctorate degree, which is the highest degree awarded. This can be obtained after receiving master’s degrees. The length of this program may vary according the students credentials and his level of dedication.

Considering an online degree? All the above types of degree programs can also be pursued through online education. There are certain benefits of pursuing degree online. First, education cost is drastically cut down. Secondly, you do not need to travel to college and can take lessons at the comfort of your home. Thirdly, online degree programs can be self-paced. You can either speed up or put a brake depending on your convenience. Fourthly, there are no geographical limitations in online education. Since it is a distance-learning program, you need not attend classes. You only need to have access to Internet.

Most colleges and university cater to education online offering bachelor’s degree and associate degree. Some of them also offer master’s degree and doctorate degree online.

Choosing the right vehicle for education is just as important as choosing the right career. If this sounds a little strange then consider if the learning environment is suspect, how will this impact on your ability to gain a degree worth the paper it’s written on?

An online engineering degree is one where the learning environment needs to be extremely proficient. Engineering is a profession continuing to grow in stature and one of the good things about this is you have the ability to branch off and choose a specialized area.

With the reputation of some online learning facilities under scrutiny, spending some time in this selection phase is a good idea. In the meantime, decide what area of engineering you want to pursue. There are many to choose from and with engineering types in good demand, the prospects of getting a running start in your employment career later on are bright.

Engineering degrees online have grown in popularity with the growth of the internet. Many adults now have the opportunity to re-visit education on a more personal level and learning and earning a degree online gives them this opportunity.

Engineering Levels

Almost any entry-level engineering career will require a Bachelor’s degree, but an online engineering degree can be a Master’s degree as well, or even a Doctorate. However, the majority of distance learning colleges focus on graduate degrees in engineering, as most of the hands-on education is performed during undergraduate studies.

There are also certificates available in very specialized, very advanced fields, including aerospace engineering, automotive engineering, agricultural engineering, petroleum engineering, ocean engineering, biomedical engineering, mining engineering, nuclear engineering and environmental engineering. In fact, there is probably an online engineering degree available for any engineering dream imaginable.

Engineering is divided into two main branches that include civil engineering and materials engineering, where engineers work with anything from polymers to metals. The other specializations fall underneath these two categories.

For example, aerospace engineers design aircraft, while computer engineers work with software and hardware. With an online engineering degree, engineers can even work in management or as engineering inspectors. Job growth in the field of engineering is expected to continue upward through at least 2014.

Consequently, there has never been a better time to consider an degree in engineering online for those individuals who are math and science minded. Starting salaries range from $43,000 to $85,000, and there are well over one million engineers working around the world on any number of varied projects.

The government alone funds countless engineering projects, spending almost one billion dollars annually just as nanotechnological research, development and application, the true stuff of science fiction.

They are a good option for people without the time and money to spend four years at a college site, but can also turn out to be scams. Before enrolling in an online college, you need to determine whether it is accredited.

The Accreditation Factor

If a school has been accredited, that means it has been reviewed and certified to teach an academic program and hand out degrees.

If a school is not accredited, it can claim to teach all they like, but you will never receive a real diploma from them. Accreditation ensures that schools are providing a high quality education and a somewhat consistent curriculum for each subject core.

The Claims of Many

There are many schools claiming to be accredited, but accreditation doesn’t mean anything if it comes from a non-recognized organization.

Any organization stating they are accredited by the IAAOU (International Accreditation Agency for Online Universities), Board of Online Universities (BOUA), World Online Education Accrediting Commission (WOEA), and UCOEA (Universal Council for Online Education Accreditation), are not real universities and will not offer a quality education. Hint: no real accrediting organization has the word “online” in its title.

These so-called “online universities” that claim accreditation from such sources will, at best, provide you a poor education that few respect.

At worst, they will simply sell you a fake diploma. It is illegal in many states to claim you have a degree if all you really own is a diploma from one of these schools.

Authentic Options

There are real online schools, but legitimate ones are the in the minority. To be a valid, recognized university in the United States, a school must be accredited by an organization that has itself been recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), the U.S. Department of Education (USDE), or both.

There are five main regional accreditors and many smaller organizations recognized by CHEA and USDE. These organizations have lists on their web sites.

Perception is Important

An online education is not as well respected as attending a physical university with a college campus, but it can be a great option for self-motivated people who need to earn a degree more quickly while they move forward with their lives.

It is not such a good idea to jump into an online education straight out of high school, but is very helpful for those already employed and who want to give their careers a little boost by finally earning that coveted degree.

Make sure the online school you are considering is accredited from a respected institution that has been approved by the CHEA or the USDE. They authenticate the only real schools online that count!

It is a fact and one must admit that a corporate world is and has always been a dog-eat-dog world. Everyone gets almost equal amount of workload. At this point, if anything can draw a line between you and your colleague is a college degree. Most of the people find themselves stuck in to the position from there they started and they remain there, at the same position, for years and years; only because they lack a college degree. They don’t see any career enhancements in near future. If this is happening to you then it is the time for you to think about a business degree online.

The perfect solution for people, who are really looking for a business degree but don’t have the time to go through traditional schooling methods, is to enroll for a business degree online. If you have job and family and you have to take care of your home as well then getting a business degree online is the only solution for you. It is the most cost effective and time saving way of getting a degree.

To top it all, you got little or no time to squeeze in classroom lessons into your already frenzied timetable. It’s virtually impossible for you to be attending a learning institution at all.

Busy Adults Need a Flexible Learning Schedule

Lessons are learned and assignments are submitted according to a flexible schedule that works best for you. No matter where you are in the world, you can obtain your business degree online. There’s no need for you to be physically present attending classes in a college or university. Where you are as of the moment is where you take your classes. As long as there is an Internet connection available, your online classes can take place. This means that, for instance, your work demands you to relocate elsewhere, your education will not be interrupted.

This type of learning works best for adults who are always on the go but want to earn a college degree. It is designed with utmost consideration of your schedule and availability. It allows you to be in control of the volume of learning modules you can take.

There are a few things, however, that you must closely look into before deciding to attend a business degree online program. Perhaps the most important of these is making sure that the school you choose to enroll in is an accredited learning institute. The best way to do this is by contacting the State Department of Higher Education and see if the online school of your choice is recognized. Next is there has to be an available Internet which you can access, with a decent connection speed for your classes. Finally, you have to figure out how to pay for your online education.

Obtaining your business degree online will open up a lot of career opportunities for you. Pair it with your praiseworthy performance, promotion and a salary raise is not too far ahead.

For people who are always on the move around the world, especially if it’s up to around 10 to 12 months, it can be a challenge to get a degree. Many people work for international companies where traveling is a must for advancing in one’s career. You can work as hard as you can ever do, but attaining a degree will definitely boost everything, making it definitely worth the time and money. This is all about improving the quality of one’s career and life.

But the question that arises here is that how one get an advanced degree in his/her specialized field if the person is on the move throughout the year. Today, there is a great solution for this problem; online accredited college degree. Just enroll for any accredited online college degree from a good and accredited institution and you’ll have what you have dreamt of.

Convenience in Online Education

With all of the time spent in traveling, online education is perfect since all that is needed is a trusty laptop and a good Internet connection since there is no way a frequent traveler can ever attend to conventional classes in campus. While variables may come up during the course of one’s journey and Internet access may be interrupted, lessons can resume as soon as the traveler-turned-student gets back to an urban location.

Obtaining an accredited online college degree is ideal for travelers not only because of that, but also because of its sense of purpose. Most of full-time travelers do complain about being in some strange town without knowing much. The stress of the situation can wear out just about anyone, and emotional detachment can occur at any time. They drift back and forth quickly between work and their hotel room, and there is always the danger of the traveler himself to turn to some bad influences for comfort against the stress.

Reaching for the objective of gaining an advanced degree can make a person have a sense of purpose regardless of everything else that may happen during his stay there. Going to class, most of those who get accredited online college degree programs take advantage of the virtual companionship, letting them get in contact with classmates through forums and emails.

A lot of us would think about excitement and romantic thoughts when it comes to traveling around the world, but we may be wrong. It really is enjoyable, but there is also the other side of the equation. Anyone can get homesick easily and there is no telling the length of time one is able to stand until he/she starts really missing family and friends. The sense of community and camaraderie is something that one craves for when it is not there. This can be remedied amidst the busy traveling schedules and tedious work hours by working hard towards getting an accredited online college degree, which can make anyone feel better about life itself.

If you really need an advanced degree but unfortunately you don’t have the time to get it, then you must try accredited college degree program online since it will give you full control of your time and you will certainly enjoy the benefits of distant education; also called as online or virtual education.

Have you thought of the benefits associated with earning online accredited degrees? Many still question the validity of online degrees and this is a fair argument but the truth is, while there have been some dicey moments in the past with the online learning environment degrees online a legitimate in most cases and well worth the effort in obtaining.

It’s a busy lifestyle which sees many people want to take advantage of the online learning environment. Why is this. Well, many simply cannot find the time to physically attend a live class situation for whatever reason. It may be single parenting, health restrictions or traveling distance and this is where learning from your home is a huge advantage.

Another reason is that while many may be able to get to a class in person, the intimidation factor often affects someone who is uncomfortable in a group of people or gets easily distracted. These are all valid points so don’t be afraid to chase your accredited degree online.

Learning For Life

People who study online soon learn that they are life long learners. Life long learners are people who never stop learning. They continuously seek knowledge. People who study online soon find out that the Internet is a great tool for learning new things.

They learn how to learn in a new and exciting way using the Internet. This makes earning that online accredited degree even more exciting for them. Life long learners make more money because they never stop learning and they are always eager to learn new things and go further.

Avoiding Online Learning Pitfalls

Earning a higher degree is a big thing in a person’s life. Not only could you score a higher paying job, people in your community will respect you more when you have an online accredited degree. People will look up to you for advice and guidance as they learn about what you did online to earn your degree.

There are some pitfalls you need to negotiate when looking at joining the right program and credibility is another issue to consider. Not all online learning environments are created equal and it pays to stick with those online education centers with a proven track record.

There are many benefits to online learning, but the biggest benefit will be the fact that you took that extra step to become a better person and as a result you made something great out of your life. Earning an online accredited degree can be one of the best things you ever do for yourself and for your family.

Have you just recently graduated and never held a “real” job before? Well, there’s no time like the present to get ready for your job search. Chances are that you haven’t been on the hunt for a job in a while, especially if you’ve been keeping busy with your education. Or maybe you have been affected by recent lay-offs in our current economy. Of course, you could always just be ready for something new. In any case, it’s important to get into a job that makes you happy- start today, by taking proactive steps, and using existing connections to find that dream job. So what’s the best place to start looking for jobs? You picked a good place to start- this post contains info on how to conduct a job search in today’s economy.

The most important part of a job search is connecting with people. You can always benefit from knowing someone “on the inside”. For starters, s/he can let you know what the company culture is like, how management works and give you an idea if it’s a place that will satisfy you. Another great benefit to knowing someone within a company you’d like to work for is that s/he might now of open positions that aren’t publicly announced. Also, an internal reference looks very good on a job application.

Make sure you diversify in your job search. Whether you’re connected to anyone at the organization or not, you’ll want to search job boards and company career centers daily- it’s also a good idea to set up alerts using their automated systems, so you know as soon as possible when appropriate jobs become available. Requisitions for resumes fill up fast, so make sure you’re monitoring job listings every day, and early- this way, you won’t get beaten to the best jobs. It’s always a good idea to “put feelers” out there. If you find that some job boards don’t have the types of positions you are looking for, think about any associations you are part of and check their website. Many employers post ads on association websites in an effort to more directly target the types of specific workers they are looking for. The benefit of using niche job boards shouldn’t be overlooked either- they can help you focus your job search on the particular positions that are in your area of expertise.

Make sure to stay upbeat! One thing about job searching is that it can be frustrating and sometimes depressing. Try not to let yourself get down. If you’re not careful, those types of feelings will come across in your resume, cover letter and interview. You don’t want to give potential employers the impression that you’re desperate or have given up. Work hard at staying upbeat and that will come through! The perfect job is out there, you just have to go find it!

What about a law degree online? Would that be something for you? Let’s face the facts; criminals are not going to disappear anytime soon. Throughout recorded history there have been people making and breaking laws. Just the same, there have been people who strive to uphold these laws. Criminal justice is a term that covers a wide range of branches in law. Covered under the criminal justice system are law enforcement officers, corrections officers, probation officers and even lawyers. Pretty much everyone involved in the process of catching, sentencing, and retaining criminals are part of the criminal justice system.

In the ancient times, a person willing to become a part of the CJ system (Criminal Justice System) was only required to show physical strength, fighting abilities, courage and stamina in order to act like a wall in front of the criminals.

Educating future law makers

An education in law is no simple task. Traditionally it is process that takes nearly a decade in school to complete. The inception of the online degree option has given law students the option to obtain a considerable amount of their education outside of the class room. Online criminal justice programs typically begin with the Juris doctorate the next step after a student has obtained a bachelor degree. In order to obtain a bachelor degree one must spend on average four years in school, as well as a considerable amount of money in tuition fees and books. Many students are choosing to obtain their Juris doctorate online so that they can begin to work off student loans and debts as early as possible. Whether a student decides to get their doctorate online or in the classroom, all law students must pass the bar examination before they can practice the law they worked so hard to learn. Not only can online law students work while they learn, they can also study for the bar well in advance of their school bound peers.

The Life of a Lawyer

Is a life of toil; long hours, difficult cases, and even more difficult clients. Most students who choose the Online option so they can work as well as study, learn very early on just how difficult their life is about to become.

Today, mental abilities have become far more superior to physical abilities. If you think that you have the potential of becoming a successful lawyer then why don’t you join any law degree online if you don’t have the time to attend schools using traditional schooling methods?

It was difficult choosing between different Online Degree Programs. First I wanted to get my online engineering degree in electrical services but then I decided that it really was not the best choice for me. I have always been good at playing the guitar, so I decided to put my music skills to the test.

I didn’t know what to do at first so I consulted my brother Jason to help me pick out a field. He said audio engineering would be a good choice for me because I was always good at creating diverse forms of art. So I took my brother’s advice and he sent me on my way.

When I searched online for a good university I stumbled upon the University of Phoenix. “Perfect”, I said to myself. Right then and there I knew that this would be the one for me. I mean it had all the best courses a kid my age could ask for, so I took the offer.

My brother is really good when it comes to reading into things. About a year or so ago, Jason completed one of the best Online FNP Programs on the web. He seemed quite confident after completing it. So I guess his confidence had rubbed off on me. In the end, it turned out to be a good thing.

About eight months ago, I finished my course in audio engineering. I must admit, applying for online degree programs can make you quite skeptical at first. But it’s not what you’re applying for; it’s the plan you have to conquer what it is you’re applying for.

I look back at all this and I realize what it took to get through the past year. I had to study hard and work two jobs at the same time. I also had to make sure I didn’t stay out too late at night because it could ruin my schedule. If your applying for any of the online degree programs on the web make sure you follow your heart and never give up. I hope my story gives you the courage you need to succeed.

In the age of the Internet, Online Degree Programs are an ideal path for those looking to continue their education. Many of these programs offer degrees that are as good as, or identical to, the ones you would receive attending a physical college or trade school. One of the biggest benefits of online courses is that you’re not limited by distance. You can receive these degrees, no matter where you physically reside.

If you’re thinking of signing up for one of these online degree programs, there are several things to take into consideration. First, look to see that the school is accredited. If it’s not, the degree you get could be worthless. Next comes, the more difficult and fun part: deciding what school you will attend and what courses you’ll take.

These schools offer online degree programs in a dizzying variety of subjects. For example, you could tackle Online CRNA Programs, or even something like online degree hypnotherapy courses. Or perhaps you would like to start a career in business, politics or even veterinary medicine. These and more are all possible with online programs.

If you’re worried about the reputation of these kinds of places, you might be surprised to learn that some of the most prestigious universities across the country offer these online degree programs now. In addition to the many subjects offered, you can get degrees ranging from an Associate’s all the way to a PhD.

If you’ve been wanting to further your education but have a regular job you work to pay the bills, online course may be the perfect choice for you. With most of these courses, you can learn at your own pace and when it’s convenient for you. You might find that you can complete a degree sooner than you could with physical colleges, which dictate when and where to take your courses. However, if you’re someone who needs more time, you won’t need to feel as if you’re being rushed at the pace of someone else.

Regardless of your reasons for pursuing a degree online and the career you’re after, you should formulate a plan of action. Research different schools and find the one that offers the courses you’ll need for your degree and at a price you’re comfortable with. Remember, your future is in your hands.

You can now earn a college degree online without the need to travel to a college campus option. Online degree programs are often taken by people who have already entered the workforce and don’t have the time to attend classes at a university.

Consideration of Cost and Popularity

Online degrees also tend to be much less expensive than a traditional college experience and take much less time to complete the degree. The trade off is that the quality of education is typically much lower through an online university.

Enrollment in online schools has increased dramatically during the past several years, according to the International Data Corporation. The number of available online colleges is also increasing every year.

Caution is the Byword

There are many phoney schools, unfortunately, that will gladly take your money and provide you a piece of paper saying it’s a degree but is, in fact, just a piece of paper. Be very cautious and thorough in your search for legitimate options.

When selecting one, look first for accreditation. If the school is not accredited by an organization approved by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the U.S. Dept. of Education, then it is not a valid university and cannot legally offer you a real degree.

Keep an eye out for one that is well respected and doesn’t boast about how easy it is to graduate. A good education should be challenging. After all, if you don’t learn anything, you’re not getting your money’s worth. Make sure you choose a school that can provide an education in the exact subjects and major you want to study.

The Course Load

Most online programs offer a wide array of possible majors, but every school specializes in something different. Try to determine each school’s specialty, and then focus on what you need. Read all available literature that you can find on each college that interests you.

When taking online classes, be sure you can arrange your course load around your other life responsibilities. Also ensure you have a speedy Internet connection for your classes and work material.

Convenience is Appealing

Most universities offer quite a bit of convenience for arranging your schedule around online lectures or discussions. You will definitely have to spend a lot of time studying, so make sure you set aside enough time to keep up with the word load.

An online education should not cost as much as a physical university because they do not need to pay for buildings, and instructors from all over the world can be in the same digital classroom. Shop around for a deal, but don’t select the cheapest online school since its quality will almost certainly be much worse.

All-in-all, an online degree can provide you the extra credentials you need to get your career jump started or moving beyond where it is. Most businesses don’t care where you received your degree, as long as you have one that is legitimate, accredited, and relevant to your career position.

Can you really earn your Bachelor’s degree online? Yes, and people are turning to the internet in droves to enhance their educational qualifications as a way to either improve their job prospects or to pick up where they left off when they were younger.

The online environment is attracting almost instant-like gratification in many areas of life and while earning a degree takes time, the convenience factor is hard to ignore. The fact that someone can study from the comfort of their own home without the obvious distraction and intimidation a class setting may present makes it an appealing alternative.

However, there is some due diligence to be conducted on your part before accepting any course. Earning your Bachelor’s degree online is one thing; getting it accepted as a legitimate qualification is another and that’s what you should only consider accredited schools.

Are Online Bachelor Degrees Legitimate?

Why would anyone earn their bachelors degree online when they can go to classes? Well, many people don’t have the privilege or time to attend actual classes. They have to earn their bachelors degree online if they hope to better themselves and get a good job. Some of these people include single parents who can’t afford day care for their kids.

They include people who work one and sometimes two jobs and have little time to attend classes. And they include people who don’t live anywhere near a good school. There are many reasons why someone would choose to earn a bachelors degree online but you must make sure the bachelors degree you earn online will be accepted by employers.

Proving Your Bachelor’s Is Legitimate

A good way to find out if the online Bachelor’s degree you earn will be worth anything is to call a potential employer before you sign up for classes. For instance, let’s say you want to be a nurse. You could call the human resources department at your local hospital to ask if they accept any applicants with online degrees.

If they do, ask what institutions they accept degrees from and apply to that online school. That’s one of the ways to go about finding out if your online degree is worth pursuing. If you’re not sure what career you want to go into, do some research and find out what degrees can be purchased online and make sure the school is accredited before you spend any money; as you wouldn’t want to spend all that money on a degree that wasn’t worth anything.

You have done your research and found the right on-line college for you. Now it is time to get enrolled. You have just started looking at the application steps and you are starting to feel overwhelmed. Take a deep breath and let’s begin.

Some colleges will offer you the opportunity to either fill out an application that they can mail to you or fill out their application on-line. Always, always fill out the application on line. By doing the application on-line, you are showing the college that you are comfortable with working on a computer.

For some people, it is easiest to print out the application and look it over carefully. This gives you the opportunity to gather any information that may be needed to complete the application. Having all information on hand can be a big time saver. This will also enable you to make sure that you fill out the application correctly the first time.

If the college of your choice requires an essay as part of their application process, write one. Take your time to carefully think about what it is that you are trying to say. Re-read your essay a couple of times to catch any spelling or grammatical errors and correct them. Make use of the spell-check feature that is provided with most Microsoft Office applications. Lastly, have someone else read your essay and critique it. Once you are sure that you have written the best possible essay, go ahead and submit it.

Once your application is submitted, some colleges will send an electronic message stating that your application has been received. If the college does not send out electronic messages, be prepared to follow up with the college after a few days to verify that your application was received. Allow the admissions department time to process your application before calling to find out if you have been accepted.

Some colleges may require further information that will need to be mailed in. This material could be prior transcripts, financial aid paperwork, or signed documents. Make sure that the requested information is sent in before the deadline.  Failure to provide the requested material by the set deadline could result in your application being denied.

Remember that a college application is a legal document. When you affix your signature, you are certifying that all information that you provided is the truth. Do not give any information that you cannot support or back up.

When you are finished with the application process, you will wonder what in the world you were so worried about. It is a lengthy process to be sure, but it is actually a very simple and straight forward process. Some people find the online application process a lot easier than those applications that you have to fill out by hand.

As recently as 1992 online schools were required by law to offer at least half of their courses at a physical campus in order to be able to offer any type of federal financing; but that law was overturned in 2006.

There are several different kinds of Federal Student Loans available:

Federal Perkins Loans- A low interest loan available to students who are proven to be in extreme financial need. As long as a student remains in school, the government pays the interest on the loan continuing for nine additional months after the student graduates. Then the loan and the interest is the responsibility of the student.

Federal Subsidized Stafford Loans- A low interest loan that the government pays the interest on as long as the student remains in school. For six months after graduation the government will continue to pay the interest, and then it is the student’s responsibility to start repaying the loan.

Federal Unsubsidized Stafford Loans- Also low interest, however the interest starts to accumulate from the time that the money is paid to the school. The first payment is usually due six months after graduation.

Federal PLUS Loans- This stands for “Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students”. This loan is available to parents that are paying for their child’s education. The loan repayment starts as soon as the money is paid to the school.

Federal PLUS Loans for Graduate and Professional Degree Students- After a student has reached the limits of other federal finance possibilities, they may qualify for this loan. The loan repayment starts as soon as the money is paid to the school, however the student may request a deferment while they are attending school. Forty-five days after graduation the loan repayment schedule resumes.

There are other options for paying for your degree beyond Federal loan and grant programs. We will look at loan options in the next blog post.

Has life put your dreams of obtaining a higher education on hold? Are you afraid that working forty hours a week and having kids makes your dream of going to college impossible. Not anymore, with the age of internet comes the realization of your dreams. It is now possible to obtain a degree from the convenience of your own home, on your schedule without ever stepping foot on a campus.

So now the search is on. With so many on-line schools out there, how do you pick the right one? There are some important things to consider when searching for the perfect school for you.

Is the school accredited? Accredited means that a school has been officially recognized as meeting standards or criterion.

Is the school able to meet your basic requirements that you need to be able to obtain work in your chosen field?

How many students are in each classroom setting? Can the instructor meet each individuals needs?

What certificates or degrees are available? A certificate is a document that states that you have completed the courses and have met certain standards. Certificates are often awarded through schools offering shorter courses. A degree is a title that is awarded by a school following the successful completion of study in a particular field. A degree can take from two years or longer to receive. How long will it take to obtain a certificate or degree in your chosen field? Â

Does the school have technical support available? Is it available at all times or just specific hours? How available is the instructor?

Is the tuition all inclusive? Are there additional fees for books, labs, or any other fee that must be paid?

Does the school aid in employment placement? What is the percentage of students who graduate that are working in their field of study?

What type of financial aid is available? Does FAFSA recognize the school? Are there scholarships or grants available? Is there in-house financing available and at what interest rate?

By utilizing the tips outlined above, you are ensuring that you have the pertinent information available to you in order to make an informed decision.Â

Do not be afraid to ask questions of the recruiters that you talk to. They are there to answer questions and inform you about their school and their programs. However, do not let them pressure you by pushing you to enroll before you are ready.

Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, do not attend any school that offers you less than what you desire. With so many schools available to choose from, there is no reason that you cannot find a school that offers you everything that you need to be successful in whatever career field you want to enter.

For anyone who knows the benefits of an MBA degree, the primary question is not whether to pursue a MBA degree, but when to do it. Does it make more sense to carry on immediately after college and earn an MBA, or is it better to get some work experience first?

People studying for this degree usually anticipate to find new opportunities through this program but there are other people who differ in their views as to how much useful the degree would be. The proper course would depend on the person and circumstances. It is necessary that he should find out about the advantage and the disadvantage of the course before pursuing the degree.

Among the most respected and desired degrees one can get these days is the Master of Business Administration. With the global economy becoming more and more service oriented and corporate, businesses find themselves requiring more and more business acumen and particular technical skills.

And this degree holder is likely to have those necessary skills and savvy. Certainly, according to a recent New York Times article, “the term MBA has become synonymous with raw commerce talent. Pay scales have risen accordingly, and overall, the future looks bright for these students”.

Most of the people who are trying to get these degrees are not full-time students. They tend to be part-time or distance students, and they are often having their studies paid for by their employers. These degrees are often obtained in an attempt to move up at work, switch jobs and sometimes begin their own business. Only about 20 percent of the people who successfully receive these degrees start their own business.

Many graduates are older. In fact, about 30 percent have families. When you look at distance learning programs, the percentage is even larger. This is because these kind of programs allow you to study at your own pace, and you don’t have to interrupt your work or family life. It is easy to get online masters degrees.

If you are looking for MBA or other helpful trade-related programs there is a lot to choose from. If you want the answer to the question, “Which one is right for me?” that is hard to say. Everyone is unique and each person’s desires, both today and in the future, are different.

People who pursue an MBA do so in order to find new career opportunities but there are different points of view about when it is best to obtain the degree. Do you extend your studies immediately after college, or is it wiser to go out and get some experience in the workplace first? Online masters degrees are a good option for older people, as it allows one to study at their own pace, and it doesn’t take time away from work or their family. Salaries are higher for people with degrees working in business and as a result these students now have a bright future ahead of them.

1. The next thing that you will want to look into when selecting an online college is the type of prerequisites that institution has in place for students. If you are interested in joining a particular online college, it is important to know and understand what expectations they have in place for new students. Knowing whether or not you qualify for acceptance is a key component in ensuring that you have made the right educational choice.

2. When selecting an online college, it is important to ensure that all of the coursework that is issued to students is done in a virtual classroom. Many online colleges offer courses in the virtual classroom, as well as the traditional brick and mortar classroom. It is important to know what is expected in this area prior to committing to the university.

3. Last, but not least, you should take into consideration what others think of the online college, as well as any relevant experiences that they have had with the online college. this will give you a good idea of what to expect when you are a student yourself.

As you can see, there are many important considerations to be made when it comes to online colleges. The tips listed here will help you to determine if a particular college is right for you.

Many individuals are attracted to online colleges. There are many different reasons why attending virtual colleges and universities online are considered to be appealing to internet users. One, these types of schools often offers an individual convenience. No longer do students have to schedule their lives around their college classes – now, they can go to class any time of the day or night, for as long as they wish! In addition to convenience, online colleges are often affordable and offer the student many options when it comes to coursework. As these educational institutions increase in popularity, more and more are becoming available. This can make it challenging to choose the right one for you. Here, you will be introduced to a number of tips for choosing an online college.

1. The most important tip for choosing an online college is to ensure that the educational institution is accredited. Accreditation means that the online school meets and/or exceeds the educational standards for a particular subject, degree, and/or coursework. This can be extremely beneficial to you in many different ways. First, it means that if you ever decide to switch colleges, you will be able to transfer any credits that you received. Furthermore, when it comes to entering your chosen career path, it is essential to have an education that meets certain standards. If you lack this, you may find it difficult to use the skills and talents that you have acquired in the future, and you may find that you literally wasted your money on an education that just does not count.

2. The next tip for considering and selecting an online college is to ensure that the school offers plenty of resources to assist you in your educational career. Examples of resources include an online school library, peer counseling services, tutoring sessions, and technical support specialists.

3. The third tip for choosing an online college is to research the financial aid options that you have. Many schools will offer payment plans, accept Federal Pell Grants, and similar forms of financial aid. If you do not have the money to pay full tuition at an online university, this may be an important consideration.

I will have more tips for you in a few days.

Most of us will never make it to Harvard, Yale, or Princeton. And, for many of us, it’s not really practical to think about packing up at the age of 40 and heading off to discuss philosophy in the Harvard Yard. But what about taking an online class from one of these schools?

Here is a link where you can go and check out information on several of these schools:

Online Ivy League Schools

How would that look on your resume? Add Cornell University or Boston College as one of the schools on your resume and that could turn a few heads. Is it worth the cost? Probably. I’d check it out. And, if nothing else, it could be one of those conversation pieces among friends trying to one-up the other, win a date, or more importantly, get a promotion over some dweeb who just got his degree from the local community college.

If you’re in the field of nursing, there’s a decent chance you’ve heard of the College Network. I am in now way affiliated with them, but it may be worth your time to check it out. Why? Because they represent many different types of degrees and many different universities.

The College Network (TCN) is not like any other place that lists different colleges and degrees because they actually have a partnership with those schools to help you earn their degree. They are based out of Indianapolis, and have been around for a dozen years or so. Their specialty is in nursing degrees (ASN, BSN, MSN), but they have added several different health care degrees and business degrees.

Think of this way – it’s like insurance. You can go to a company like State Farm or AllState, or you can find a reputable insurance broker (like Al Banker in Texas), who represents many different insurance companies, thereby matching you up with the best carrier at the best price. So, TCN would be like an “accredited college degree broker.”

Here are what I see as the pros and cons:

Pros:

Many different choices of degrees

Full university support

Accredited Degree choices

Course work guarantees

Most degree programs are 100% distance learning

Most degree programs are 100% self paced

Cost (less money than taking all your courses at a 4-year college)

Financing is available

Fully accredited degrees

Cons

If you speak to the wrong degree advisor, you’d think you were speaking to a used car salesman

Cost (more money than a 2-year community college)

There’s not a lot of cons. Many of the pros could also be said for going straight to the university. But, the biggest asset you have with TCN is choice. If you can get past “being sold” a degree, I think you’d be hard pressed to find a better place to explore degree options.

Here is part 2 in our series on things you should know when planning for or choosing a bachelors degree online

Third, if your budget is tight, it pays to check out the tuition each school charges. Usually, they will break down the tuition per credit, so you can see how much each credit costs, and therefore how much each class costs.

Finally, what do you need to do to apply? Every university will have specific admission requirements. You may need a high school diploma or an SAT score. Check with each university you are considering to make sure you aren’t accepted because you forgot to include some pertinent piece of information to Admissions.

As you can see, you need to start doing your homework before you even enroll in school! If you use these criteria to help you choose the right online bachelor’s degree for you, it will help you find the education you are looking for.

For me, I enjoyed the challenge of earning my associate degree online. Many people need help, or guidance, when they learn, but others can make it on their own. While you are not abandoned by your professors online, you simply don’t have the face-to-face interaction. Without the distractions of having to get to class, park my truck, and deal with schedules, I could just get down to business. You will have more reading assignments, will watch some sort of prerecorded lectures, and get to work. Of course, once I was done with my associate degree online, I wanted something more from the rest of my education. I am in the process right now of earning my bachelors degree from a Bible College, having used my online associates degree as my foundation. I wanted to actually be able to talk to my professors, to get to know my classmates, and to be able to enjoy a real college environment. Still, it was nice to have all of those prerequisites out of the way. Perhaps earning an associates degree from an online Christian College is right for you too.
