College is no longer sitting in a classroom for hours, listening to a teacher’s lectures, and getting graded for each test or quiz that the teacher throws at you. Today, we have the capability and technology to have a college classroom in our living room via the internet. The internet has created a whole new world for everyone including colleges and students. There are quite a few positive aspects of attending Online universities.

Online universities open a whole new line of education for smaller cities. Many smaller cities have only one or some have no colleges or universities. online college degree are the answers to their prayers. The students typically already know what degree plans they are interested in, because they know the career that they want to work for. However, until online colleges became popular, most had to chose from the degree plans that the local schools had to offer.

Today, you can choose from hundreds of degree plans when you look at online colleges, such as Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Marketing, Healthcare Management, Information Technology, Education and so many more. Once the small town student graduates, he or she has the knowledge to tackle a job that doesn’t require him or her to stay in the small town life.

Online universities are usually very convenient. Some online colleges or universities require that you attend tests at a specified location once every week or two, which is not very convenient. However, most of the schools offer tests and quizzes that are in the form of essay questions and you do not have to leave home to complete them. The teachers’ give you a syllabus that you have adhere to each quarter.

Basically, this syllabus lists your assignments and the due dates for each assignment. If you get the assignment turned in by the deadline, you get a grade based on your paper or essay. If you don’t turn a paper or essay in by the deadline, you get points taken off of your grade for a late paper or a zero for not turning one in. Finally, I have found a type of college that I can attend without leaving home, without pop quizzes, and I set my own schedule. This idea sounds too good to be true.

Many studies show that they average student pays $20,000 to $30,000 per year for college tuition at major universities. This number includes the price of tuition, books, and needed school supplies. Online universities cost anywhere from $10,000 to $15,000 per degree plan for college tuition. Do you really want me to blow your mind? The college tuition estimate above for a regular college does not include room and board, automobile gas, or food. Online universities usually have the books included in the tuition price and you don’t have to worry about moving to a new city. Parents look out. Your kids may never leave home!

  1. You make some good points, but I think everyone needs to know that it’s not just about money; it really does depend on the individual. While some may learn very well in an online environment, I found several students struggle. Clearly, cost is important but quality of education is too.
