Online Education Degree - Is it for me?
An online education degree is ideal for working educators who wish to advance their professional goals. Although many are skeptical about the concept of online learning, it is the classroom of the future and for many, the present. While researching the concept of online education degree programs I found that the University of New England now offers an Online Master of Science in Education accredited degree program. For those of you interested in continuing education, this could be the program for you. According to their website UNE’s department of education is “guided by a mission to advance quality of life…based on the belief that one must be in the process of continuous discovery to be effective as a professional educator.”
UNE offers an extensive array of degree concentrations including: Curriculum and Instruction, Instruction Strategies, Educational Leadership, Inclusion Education and Literacy (K-12). Also, for educators that already have their Master’s degree, you might want to consider a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS) in Advanced Educational Leadership online. This is a post master’s degree program that can lead to an educational administrator position or even used to strengthen the leadership qualities within the classroom setting.
This online learning community allows working professionals the opportunity to continue their education, without completely interrupting their lives. Although many people may feel their inferior computer knowledge will interfere with their ability to learn, I am happy to report that this is not the case. Online learning still uses many elements of traditional education, like textbooks, as part of their instruction. So have no fear, you will not have to spend all of your time staring at a computer screen. Instead of driving to campus, you can help save that gas money and walk to your computer!
